Hi. I am Souki Belghiti, a film professional and photographer, based in Morrocco.
I was born and raised in Morocco, from a Moroccan father and a French mother. This mixed descent developed an insider-outsider point of view, continually crossing borders. Because all is one.
After high-school, I moved to Paris (France) to study biology initially. There, I felt in love with cinema as an art form, and finally got accepted into the renowned movie-school Louis Lumiere, from which I graduated in 2009. Today, I work as a camera assistant, mostly on feature films (CV)- I also shoot documentaries and corporate movies, using all the cinematic tools I learned over the years, to focus on telling compelling, moving stories.
As a photographer, there can be a feeling of absurdity, a strangeness, throughout my work- as if I was an extraterrestrial visiting the Earth-but also great empathy. I like to work in a very direct, intimate style, diving deep into my own emotions to allow the viewer to make their own inner journey. Crossing borders, again, between documentary and staged pictures, I try to tear away from reality fragments of poetry. For, what is real?
